Donations to FAM are easy to make. First, you can use the PayPal button on this page. If you wish to use PayPal, we encourage you to donate at least $5 due to the PayPal charge for each transaction. You can designate which program you wish to donate to and FAM will see that the project leader(s) for that project receive the funds. You can also donate by sending a check, money order, new toys for the children, or collectibles/memorabilia (that we can sell on our FAM store page) to the address listed below.
As noted on the home page, FAM is designated by the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 organization. For the donor this means that your donation is generally tax deductible. However, FAM cannot provide tax advice so you are encouraged to talk to a tax consultant if you have any questions regarding deductible donations.
Thank you for Your Donation. As noted above we will direct the donations to the program(s) you designate to assist our physicians and health care providers in:
- Continuing to provide social services to the children of San Diego County who have, through no fault of their own, been diagnosed with the HIV/AIDS virus.
- Provide as much in food, clothing, bedding and other items needed by the veterans and their families in San Diego County who are homeless.
- The most recent survey done by the San Diego County Regional Homeless Task Force (2010) estimates that 20-25% of the homeless in San Diego County are veterans.
- Upgrade training manuals for the international program in lung cancer.
- Provide medical equipment for physicians in third world countries that our pulmonary physicians train in.
- Establish web-based and on-line education to the extent possible.
